RSPCA cupcake day at Abode Cafe

This Wednesday 20th if you are in doing the laundry, keep a few coins in your pocket and some room in your tummy.  Pop around the corner to Abode Cafe and grab some delish cupcakes, to support the RSPCA.  

Now we love the fact that when doing the laundry I can pop around and grab a great coffee....but Abode Cafe seems to be getting in to doing some fun things.  We feel lucky to have them in our Centre and be able to join in events like this.  Plus lucky to have great 'Black Sheep Coffee' available with yummy freshly made food.

Is EKKA weather come early?

Oh boy Brisbane, feels like Ekka weather has come early!  It's blowing hard and the wind chill factor is high.  BOM says Brisbane feels like 7.8 degrees!!  Inside our Laundromat is warm and particularly toasty if you snuggle up in the seat next to the big dryers.  mmmm   On a day like today not much feels better than the feel of warm, fluffy laundry straight out of the dryers.

After doing the laundry I'm trying to find and do all those other things that make me warm inside and out.  

Here's my list:

A good strong coffee or hot chocolate!
A soft, fluffy blanket.
Some toast with melted cheese.
Sitting in the sun in a little protected corner.
The smell of bread baking (or cookies)
Watching a fireplace (wish I had one today!)

We try harder to ensure that your laundry day is easier and more enjoyable!  And don't forget, that if you need an espresso and a treat to enjoy your laundry day more....pop around the corner, behind the Corner Store and grab some takeaway deliciousness from Abode Cafe.

Monday mornings, Brisbane winters and 8 degrees!

brrrrrr Brisbane winter mornings, sure have arrived with a windy blast this week!  8 degrees this morning out at the Laundromat!  Somehow the western suburbs of Brisbane always feels that chill a little more. So perfect coffee o'clock time!  Pop around to Abode Cafe and sit in the sun in the courtyard to warm up.  ahhhh that's the perfect way to warm the bones, looking up at Mt Cootha and out of the wind.  Love it!

I love winter and I love good coffee.  So we are feeling very spoilt having Abode Cafe in our little Centre.  And the temptations when the delicious baking smells waft down towards the laundromat.  Just have to pop up and see what's baking!  Lately I have been finding it hard to resist the delicious little 'lemon olive oil' cake.

Okay enough about the coffee and baked goods!  lol  

It's also a perfect morning for sitting next to our dryers, feeling the warm and surfing the net on our FREE WiFi.  This morning I found this beautiful photo on Pinterest.  Thought it captured this winter morning feeling of Brisbane.  Reminds me of watching my Mum hang the washing on windy July days.

Brisbane, hooked on Autumn!

Are you hooked on Autumn like Snoopy?  Taringa today the sky is clear and the temperature is due to be 26 degrees.  Light winds and not so chilly in the mornings.  Brisbane is so beautiful at this time of year, roses are blooming, the air feel crisp and clean.  This morning out opening and cleaning the Laundromat the sun was shining in and I could have sat down on the bench and soaked it up for ages.  

In fact the courtyard is stunning at this time of year, combine it with a coffee from Abode Cafe.... and 20 minutes gazing up to Mt Cootha and you could feel like Laundry wasn't such a chore after all!

So if you have to do your laundry and you want to combine it with some chill out time, bring it down, pop it in the Dexter *express* machines, then you can walk around the corner, grab a coffee, toast, brekky sit in the sun and relax for 23 minutes.  Pop back down, throw it in the BIG dryers and go back for some more Autumn sunshine and maybe another coffee.

And just to make you feel warm and good all over, we provide FREE laundry liquid and fabric softener.  Both are Australian owned and made, high quality eco, earth friendly and sensitive skin friendly products.  So you don't need to stress about forgetting to bring your detergent.

'Laundry Today or Naked Tomorrow'

Mothers Day this Sunday

Mum's where would we all be without them?  I love my Mum and am always thinking of what things I can do or give her on Mothers Day.  So here is a list of ideas for you, following that great 'Shop Local - Support Local' Vision.  

1.  Do all of Mum's Laundry!  It would be such a nice way to give her more than one day of rest and relaxation.  Bring the Laundry in on Sunday, take Mum around to Abode Cafe - sit her down with a pot of tea or a coffee, then scoot back around and pop all the laundry in the FAST Dexter *express* machines.  23 minutes later you can pop back and throw everything in to the BIG  2 - 3 loads Dexter *express* Dryers.  Mum will be sitting out in the sunshine, enjoying the gardens and the views to Mt Cootha, while all the Laundry is done in around an hour!  Easy.

2.  Buy Mum brekky or lunch at the wonderful Abode Cafe.  Open from 7am till 3 pm.  It's a beautiful Cafe in a lovely location, with delicious made on site food and pastries.  You could even pick Mum up some Abode Jams or Relishes as an added gift!!

3.  Why not give Mum some serious relaxation and spoiling....by treating her to a Voucher from Smooth at Taringa!  Facials, massage, beautiful products.

4.  How about buying Mum some original artwork from The LITTLE Art Studio?   Go in and see the diverse and beautiful work by local Artist Leesa B.  She even stocks gorgeous jewellery by local craftspeople.  

5.  And you want to really spoil her, local Florist 'Friday Flowers'  will be located in the Courtyard selling fresh, seasonal flowers on Friday and Saturday.  Straight from the markets!
