Share the warmth this winter

Did you know that over 19800 people are experiencing homelessness in Queensland?  And that approx 1550 of those are sleeping rough on the streets?

I found out about this through a post by Yelp Brisbane and I loved it.  What a generous thing to organise just as we are about to feel the chill kick in.  A wonderful organisation "Pindari Men's and Women's Centres" for the homeless are running a winter bedding and warm clothes collection.  The fabulous David Murry and his David Murry Salon at 43 Peel Street, South Brisbane are kindly being the drop off spot for the collection.  So, we wanted to help support such a great cause and to 'share' the warmth this winter.  Indooroopilly Laundromat will happily collect any drop off's of winter woollies at our Laundry and take it to David Murry's Salon by the 14th June.  #sharethewarmth

So.... have a rummage through your cupboards, see what you can donate, to help those stay warm this winter.  Blankets, jumpers, sheets, jackets, trackies, beanies!  Clean, good condition and sent with love.

Good Karma warms the heart, thank you for your support.

**Please...  Leave it behind our Laundromat, go down the driveway to the back - clean and in a bag.

Brisbane, hooked on Autumn!

Are you hooked on Autumn like Snoopy?  Taringa today the sky is clear and the temperature is due to be 26 degrees.  Light winds and not so chilly in the mornings.  Brisbane is so beautiful at this time of year, roses are blooming, the air feel crisp and clean.  This morning out opening and cleaning the Laundromat the sun was shining in and I could have sat down on the bench and soaked it up for ages.

In fact the courtyard is stunning at this time of year, combine it with a coffee from Abode Cafe.... and 20 minutes gazing up to Mt Cootha and you could feel like Laundry wasn't such a chore after all!

So if you have to do your laundry and you want to combine it with some chill out time, bring it down, pop it in the Dexter *express* machines, then you can walk around the corner, grab a coffee, toast, brekky sit in the sun and relax for 23 minutes.  Pop back down, throw it in the BIG dryers and go back for some more Autumn sunshine and maybe another coffee.

And just to make you feel warm and good all over, we provide FREE laundry liquid and fabric softener.  Both are Australian owned and made, high quality eco, earth friendly and sensitive skin friendly products.  So you don't need to stress about forgetting to bring your detergent.

Enjoy Autumn - make Laundry day easy, fast and relaxing.

Laundromats, how times have changed!

wow!  Surfing through online photo's of laundromats (yes sad and tragic I know) and I came up with these two.

How times have changed in the Laundromat world.  I don't think I have ever seen laundromats like the top photo in Australia, but maybe I need to ask my Mum?

And wow the second photo, is mind blowing a street vending Laundromat!  Is this how it will go in the future?  I know we already see the Street dog wash self serve set ups, but a laundromat one?  hmmmm I could picture these in Japan too.

Love finding wild photo's like this, from one era to another.

Did you know?

Did you know  all commercial laundromat dryers have a cool down period at the end of a dry cycle, usually 1 minute.  Our Dexter 'Express" Dryers are the same.

To get the best value for your money and drying dollars, we recommend the following:

$1.00 = 8 minutes (7 minutes drying/1 minute cool down)

It is most effective to put at least $2.00 in the dryer to start.  Put any extra coins in, before the last two minutes show on the timer.  That way you will not loose a minute every 8 minutes. *** A small load (1 basket) may dry in 16 -24 minutes = $3

*Note*  The dryers work most efficiently with a full basket - up to three baskets of clothes in them.  They don't dry faster or better by spreading clothes out in to smaller loads across the dryers.

** Drying times will depend on the mix of laundry you have in a load, heavy items like towels, jeans, winter hoodies etc will take longer.  A load of tshirts, linen, cotton items will take less.

Our Dexter 'Express' Dryers are Triple load, modern gas dryers and are 'the best of the best in the industry'.  Combine this with our express Front load Dexter washers which have the fastest spin speeds than any other brand laundromat washers, or even standard Dexter washers!  Results are, your clothes come out drier from the washers = will dry faster, saving you time and money.

We hope this helps you get the most out of your dollars and time at our Laundry.

Mothers Day this Sunday

Mum's where would we all be without them?  I love my Mum and am always thinking of what things I can do or give her on Mothers Day.  So here is a list of ideas for you, following that great 'Shop Local - Support Local' Vision.

1.  Do all of Mum's Laundry!  It would be such a nice way to give her more than one day of rest and relaxation.  Bring the Laundry in on Sunday, take Mum around to Abode Cafe - sit her down with a pot of tea or a coffee, then scoot back around and pop all the laundry in the FAST Dexter *express* machines.  23 minutes later you can pop back and throw everything in to the BIG  2 - 3 loads Dexter *express* Dryers.  Mum will be sitting out in the sunshine, enjoying the gardens and the views to Mt Cootha, while all the Laundry is done in around an hour!  Easy.

2.  Buy Mum brekky or lunch at the wonderful Abode Cafe.  Open from 7am till 3 pm.  It's a beautiful Cafe in a lovely location, with delicious made on site food and pastries.  You could even pick Mum up some Abode Jams or Relishes as an added gift!!

3.  Why not give Mum some serious relaxation and spoiling....by treating her to a Voucher from Smooth at Taringa!  Facials, massage, beautiful products.

4.  How about buying Mum some original artwork from The LITTLE Art Studio?   Go in and see the diverse and beautiful work by local Artist Leesa B.  She even stocks gorgeous jewellery by local craftspeople.

5.  And you want to really spoil her, local Florist 'Friday Flowers'  will be located in the Courtyard selling fresh, seasonal flowers on Friday and Saturday.  Straight from the markets!

We hope we have given you a few great ideas and mostly that you have a wonderful day just enjoying being with your Mum.
