Hot days and cool Laundromats

It's not even summer yet and we have felt the sting of hot days and wild storms!  

On the near record breaking 40 degree day last week we worried for those brave souls who came in to do their laundry.  Geoff and I set up an esky with ice and bottled water.  We cranked up our ceiling fan and hoped that 'Laundry Today or Naked Tomorrow' didn't mean heat exhaustion.  It was nice to be able to do a little something special for our lovely customers and regulars.  And made us feel a little less guilty for not being air-conditioned.  

And remember while you wait, the bench outside provides a lovely shady spot with a cool breeze.  


Or pop around the corner to wait and relax in the courtyard gardens.  Grab a coffee, a freshly made juice and just chill out.  And the good thing is, parking is right out front - no humping your laundry basket for ages out in the hot sun.  

Our Laundromat is open till 9pm every night of the year, so you can always delay the dirty laundry till the cool of the evening. 

 

Business of the Month!

Very chuffed to be selected by the Bendigo Bank's Indooroopilly Branch as their 'Business of the Month' for November.  

Our little laundromat will have a display inside the Bank for the whole month.  Thanks to Nyree and Steven from the Branch for putting up this gorgeous display and being so supportive of small local business in Brisbane's western suburbs. 

We can't say enough about how terrific this local Branch is, they are always supporting great charities, fund raising and helping locals.  Pop on down to have a chat to the lovely team, for all your financial needs and queries.

Shut the door!

Some times things are easier than you think!  

Shut the door of the Dexter express front loaders.  Watch the video and see how easy and gently it can be done!

** Check no items are hanging out over door seal

Step 1.  Push door in gentle at 3 o'clock position
Step 2   Push door handle down to 6 o'clock position gently - this position will lock the door for the duration of the wash.

How easy can it be!

 How easy can it be?   This easy!!  Using our *express* Dexter Triple Front load washer, you can fit this might big pile of dirty laundry in to one machine!  Our Laundromat offers the best of the best *express* front loaders, faster-cleaner-drier!

Simple step 1 -  Create dirty laundry by having a good time :) 












 
Step 2 - Put all that dirty laundry in one Triple machine


















Step 3 - Make sure you can sit your hand on top of the washing.  This means the machine is filled enough.  Also CHECK that nothing is hanging out as you close the door for it to seal.















 

Step 4 -  Use our fabulous Aussie owned & made Laundry Liquid and Fabric Softener, available FREE to use if you need.  
One to One and a half caps of detergent and One cap of fabric softener is enough!!





Step 5 - Only $8.00  For Hot, Warm or Cold wash!  Insert $1 or $2 coins, select your wash temp and press the green START button.  Easy!




Step 6 - If necessary....go grab a coffee from Abode Cafe.  Or just sit and enjoy what's on Telly or jump online with our FREE WiFi!!

Is EKKA weather come early?

Oh boy Brisbane, feels like Ekka weather has come early!  It's blowing hard and the wind chill factor is high.  BOM says Brisbane feels like 7.8 degrees!!  Inside our Laundromat is warm and particularly toasty if you snuggle up in the seat next to the big dryers.  mmmm   On a day like today not much feels better than the feel of warm, fluffy laundry straight out of the dryers.

After doing the laundry I'm trying to find and do all those other things that make me warm inside and out.  

Here's my list:

A good strong coffee or hot chocolate!
A soft, fluffy blanket.
Some toast with melted cheese.
Sitting in the sun in a little protected corner.
The smell of bread baking (or cookies)
Watching a fireplace (wish I had one today!)

Brisbane, hooked on Autumn!

Are you hooked on Autumn like Snoopy?  Taringa today the sky is clear and the temperature is due to be 26 degrees.  Light winds and not so chilly in the mornings.  Brisbane is so beautiful at this time of year, roses are blooming, the air feel crisp and clean.  This morning out opening and cleaning the Laundromat the sun was shining in and I could have sat down on the bench and soaked it up for ages.  

In fact the courtyard is stunning at this time of year, combine it with a coffee from Abode Cafe.... and 20 minutes gazing up to Mt Cootha and you could feel like Laundry wasn't such a chore after all!

So if you have to do your laundry and you want to combine it with some chill out time, bring it down, pop it in the Dexter *express* machines, then you can walk around the corner, grab a coffee, toast, brekky sit in the sun and relax for 23 minutes.  Pop back down, throw it in the BIG dryers and go back for some more Autumn sunshine and maybe another coffee.

Laundromats, how times have changed!

 wow!  Surfing through online photo's of laundromats (yes sad and tragic I know) and I came up with these two.  

How times have changed in the Laundromat world.  I don't think I have ever seen laundromats like the top photo in Australia, but maybe I need to ask my Mum?

And wow the second photo, is mind blowing a street vending Laundromat!  Is this how it will go in the future?  I know we already see the Street dog wash self serve set ups, but a laundromat one?  hmmmm I could picture these in Japan too.
