Laundry Day can be easy and more enjoyable than you think!

Simply we are just that!  Easy and enjoyable.  We are not a big Laundromat ....we are just a little local business established back in 1996.  To tell our story.  Our little Laundromat was started by Geoff's brother Peter at the suggestion of his Dad Max.  Max was a well known local washing machine repairman.  The boys grew up just a few blocks away in Gladstone Street, Indooroopilly.  Geoff even has memories of coming down to this little heritage Centre with his Mum to the butchers when he was little.  Our Centre has been around since the 1930's.  And we love it!

We have 6 *express* Dexter Front load washers, 3 Top Loaders for single basket washes and 9 BIG fabulous, *express* Dexter dryers (that hold up to 3 baskets of wet laundry)  We have a big stainless steel folding table.  Lots of modern, modular chairs....very comfy for the hour you have to sit while your Laundry is on!  We even have a modern modular bench seat outside for those beautiful summer days.  A ceiling fan, television, magazines, community noticeboard and FREE WiFi!!  Just to make it all 'a little bit easier' we also have a change machine inside that will dispense $1 coins from notes.  Simple!

Our *express* Dexter Front loaders take 20 -23 minutes, spin faster than any other Dexter model to extract more moisture from your clothes.  Saving you time and money in the Dryers.  They are gentle on your laundry, reliable and affordable.  We even provide Australian owned and made ECO Laundry liquid, fabric softener and pre-wash stain remover by 'Earth Choice'

We want people to find the laundromat the way we would like to find a Laundromat if we needed to use one.  And we use ours for our own laundry!  So.....we clean it twice a day, at least!  On busy days we clean it 3 or 4 times.  Our machines are maintained to be clean, fresh and reliable.  Dexter is 'Best of the Best' in the Industry!  

Find us in Taringa on Hillsdon Road, we have easy parking right outside the door.  Open every day of the year.  And to make life even more convenient.....Abode Cafe is located in the Centre (Closed on Tuesdays)  The Corner store for snacks, icecreams, drinks and magazines.  And Bus Stop right on the corner for #415 and #414

 How easy can it be?   This easy!!  Using our *express* Dexter Triple Front load washer, you can fit this might big pile of dirty laundry in to one machine!  Our Laundromat offers the best of the best *express* front loaders, faster-cleaner-drier!

Simple step 1 -  Create dirty laundry by having a good time :) 












 
Step 2 - Put all that dirty laundry in one Triple machine


















Step 3 - Make sure you can sit your hand on top of the washing.  This means the machine is filled enough.  Also CHECK that nothing is hanging out as you close the door for it to seal.















 

Step 4 -  Use our fabulous Aussie owned & made Laundry Liquid and Fabric Softener, available FREE to use if you need.  
One to One and a half caps of detergent and One cap of fabric softener is enough!!





Step 5 - Only $8.00  For Hot, Warm or Cold wash!  Insert $1 or $2 coins, select your wash temp and press the green START button.  Easy!




Step 6 - If necessary....go grab a coffee from Abode Cafe.  Or just sit and enjoy what's on Telly or jump online with our FREE WiFi!!

We all know you just can't escape the Laundry day chores, every week there it is waiting for you. ho hum  If you are trying to find a way to make that chore of laundry easier....bring it down to our Laundromat and spend a very comfortable hour, while your laundry is zipping through our *express* Dexter machines.  23 minutes washed!  Approx 30 mins drying time! 

And now to make you time at our laundry even more comfortable....we have just replaced our old chairs with new modular black ones.  Tested for comfort by me!  Yes, I sat in them in the showroom for ages....i think I had the staff concerned lol!  We just had to find something smart looking, comfortable to sit on for about an hour and that gave each customer a little bit extra personal space.  It's taken us a while to find replacements for the good old white plastic chairs. They served their time well...but they were due for an upgrade!

Now with the new chairs, you can sit, relax, watch television, use our FREE WiFi, read the magazines, a book or just enjoy a coffee and use your smart devices.  Yes, we even provide power points so you can charge them while you are there!!   Remember... we also have free 'eco' laundry liquid and fabric softener available if you need it.  Cleaned twice a day, we hope you find Indooroopilly Laundromat, spotless, comfortable, roomy and easy to use.....best of all FAST!

Brisbane, hooked on Autumn!

Are you hooked on Autumn like Snoopy?  Taringa today the sky is clear and the temperature is due to be 26 degrees.  Light winds and not so chilly in the mornings.  Brisbane is so beautiful at this time of year, roses are blooming, the air feel crisp and clean.  This morning out opening and cleaning the Laundromat the sun was shining in and I could have sat down on the bench and soaked it up for ages.  

In fact the courtyard is stunning at this time of year, combine it with a coffee from Abode Cafe.... and 20 minutes gazing up to Mt Cootha and you could feel like Laundry wasn't such a chore after all!

So if you have to do your laundry and you want to combine it with some chill out time, bring it down, pop it in the Dexter *express* machines, then you can walk around the corner, grab a coffee, toast, brekky sit in the sun and relax for 23 minutes.  Pop back down, throw it in the BIG dryers and go back for some more Autumn sunshine and maybe another coffee.

Cold snap coming Brisbane!

brrrrr.... word is, our warm weather is likely to disappear with a cold snap and rain this weekend!  Time to pull out the woollies, blankets, doona's, jumpers, flannel pj's and get them ready for Winter.  Scoot on down to our Laundry, get them in our BIG Dexter *express* machines.  They are perfect for big fluffy winter items and only take 23 mins to wash.  Here are some old, but great winter tips from our Blog archive:

1. Colder weather, dries out our skin.  Using a gentler product in the wash, that is designed for sensitive skins, this will help the whole family's skin in Winter.  *Remember we offer FREE high quality, ECO, earth friendly, green, sensitive skin friendly detergent and fabric softener.  It's a wonderful Australian made and owned product, that gives terrific results and is much gentler on your skin. 

2.  Most of us use way too much detergent – you could probably get away with using as little as a quarter of a cup, REALLY!   An excess of detergent is bad for your clothes and it makes them stiff, it causes a waxy type of build up that will eventually make your towels water repellent and cause skin irritations for those with sensitive skins.  Clothes will come out fluffier and feeling cleaner from the dryers if you use less soap powder/detergent.   A win win - softer blankets and clothes feel so much nicer to snuggle in to.

3.  This cold dry air also can create *static havoc*   So maybe instead of using Fabric Softener try using dryer sheets, they are gauze-like pieces of tissue paper you can pop into the dryer to reduce static electricity. They also add a pleasant fragrance and help to soften your clothes.  Use a lower heat on the dryers too, remove any synthetic items as soon as they feel dry to touch.  If you leave these in too long, they are STATIC creating monsters!

4.   Wool - Always ensure you read the label for specific care instructions, as they may vary.   It is recommended to turn the garment inside out for laundering and to avoid bleaches and harsh detergents, unless they are Woolmark approved.  Use a gentle Woolmark approved detergent.  Put the machine on a maximum of cold (delicate/gentle) cycle wash.  Wool garments can then be tumble dried but ONLY on a low setting heat cycle. Remember always read the label instructions first!

5.  Best results for your Flannel Sheets:  Flannel sheets are best washed in warm water, as opposed to hot water. Some manufacturers even recommend cold water. In any case, this will minimise color fading.  Use Vinegar the first time you wash your flannel sheets, wash them with one-half cup white vinegar. This will help keep pills (balled-up fibers) from forming on your sheets. It will also set the color in the fabric to help resist fading.  For flannel it is best if you avoid Fabric softener.  As it leaves residue behind that stiffen fabric fibers and reduce flannel's softness over time. The buildup from the softener also increases the appearance of pills.  Finally,  best results are to have the dryer on Medium to Low heat and to minimize pilling, remove your sheets from the dryer immediately you check and notice they are dry.  Leaving them in too long will dry and harden the feel and texture.

What is best? Frontloaders or Toploaders?

We get asked quite often, what is best Front loader or Top loader washers?  Many people have personal preferences.  Both have Pro's and Con's.  

 

We personally love washing our own clothes in the Front loaders.  Front loaders are  gentler on your clothes, with no agitator for smalls and delicates to get tangled around.  They require less detergent, due to their tumbling motion that cleans the clothes more efficiently.  Less is more, with detergents for best and softest results.  One of the biggest advantages of front loader machines is that they use much less water than top loaders – up to 70% less. Our *express* Dexter front loaders are internationally renowned for their sump-free washer design and flexible water usage settings.  Compared to domestic household machines, our Dexters use significantly less water.  Our *express* Dexter machines are faster than our Top loading machines too, getting your washing done quicker and better.  23 minutes vs 35+ minutes in the Top Loaders.  

Big Frontloaders are also the BEST for Doona's, blankets, curtains and quilts because of the large bowl with no agitator. They are also designed with the fastest spin cycle, so your clothes finish much drier than in the Top loader, saving you time and money in the Dexter Dryers.  On the whole Front loaders provide a much more environmentally friendly laundry experience, quicker in and out time, better results and at less cost.  

Top Loaders are perfect for smaller loads, the washing must sit below the top of the agitator and it is best is more detergent is used.  The motion of the agitator can cause clothes to tangle, twist and pill more.  Our Top loaders cannot match the spin cycle speeds of the Dexter *express* Front loaders.   So you may have to spend more money in the Dryers to fully dry the clothes.  However, some people love Top Loader washers and trust the results they give.

Washing Doona's - tips for great results!

We get asked a lot about how to best wash Doona's by customers in our Laundromat.  So, here is a very popular prior tip from us about washing your Doona's.  We hope it helps get those snuggly items ready for the cooler months!

Tips for washing your Doona's 

As we have fabulous BIG FAST *express* Dexter frontloaders....and the chilly months are ahead of us.  It is a perfect time to wash and freshen up the winter warmers and bedding.

We recommend:  you can wash a Double, Queen or King Doona, King/Queen blankets or thick underlays/mattress protectors in the Triple Load Frontloaders.  You can fit a Single or 'thin' double/queen in the Double Load Frontloaders.   

Use our FREE eco laundry liquid, which is suitable for sensitive skin, it's earth friendly and Australian made and owned.  It gives great results and you only need 1 capful.  Remember "less is more" for best results with laundry detergent.

It is best if you wash Doona's on their own and not mixed with other clothing or towels.  Depending on the fillings of your Doona a warm wash is recommended.  Once the water soaks through they will condense and wash brilliantly in the *express* Dexters.  Note - do not use to much detergent, less is more - for better results in these super fast spinning *express* Dexter frontloaders.   

~Always check your doona instructions as to what temperature to set the wash, and if they can be placed in dryers~  
Once in the Dryers start on a low temp and check it after a few minutes.  If the outer covering is silky or shiny you may need to remove it after 8 minutes to make sure it does not overheat and 'pinch' the material.  Cotton covers should be started on LOW heat and checked, if okay you can then test on Medium heat.  You can stop our Dryers, check, close the door press the START button.

Hope this helps you get the best results for your winter warmers.

NOTE:   **Please do NOT try to cram doona's or big bulky blankets, mattress protectors in to the Top Loaders!!   They will not fit in properly, if they stick up above the agitator they will not get covered in water or wash through and you will end up with a doona full of detergent.  :/

Using a Laundromat

Our laundromat is fitted out with the latest and best machines in the world.  Industry leading Dexter has two types of frontloaders, standard and *express*  We purchased the *express* machines as they give better, faster, cleaner, drier results to our customers.  They are very reliable and easy to use.  If you have never used a commercial front loader before, here are some facts and tips to win you over.  

• The Dexter frontloaders hold more than you would assume.  As there is no agitator you can put more clothes in.  Clothes should loosely fill the whole bowl for best results.
• As the *express* Dexter frontloaders use less water and spin at the highest revolution of all machines, you need less detergent.  Only a quarter to three quarters of a capful please.  As the spin will create lots of suds.  And over sudsing may stop the machine.
• We provide 'free' high quality, earth friendly, sensitive skin friendly laundry liquid.  Only 1 cap (max) is needed, please measure for best results.  If you bring your own detergent please use slightly less than recommended on the pack, as commercial machines give better and more efficient results with less detergent.
• In the dispenser at the top is the compartments for detergent, softner and bleach.  We clean these out daily.  If there is residual detergent left in there it is usually because someone has put too much in.  This will flush in to the next load.  So take care with measuring your detergent.  Please remember to put the lid down before starting the machine.

• Our machines only take 23 minutes.  So fast!  Your clothes will come out drier and cleaner.  

• Remember to check your pockets for loose items, pens, screws, tissues etc.
