Meet our Indooroopilly Laundromat Family

Well, it's heading towards nearly 20 years that our Laundromat has been operating in Taringa, Brisbane.  And as most of our regulars know, Geoff is passionate about his Laundromat it's like his baby.  And like the old saying it takes a Village to raise a child....it takes a special little family to raise a happy, friendly, clean Laundromat!

About 14 years ago we connected with a local Katie who lives very close to our laundry.  And Katie started helping us, she would shut the Laundromat, clean it when we were away for a week and pop down in emergencies.  And over all those years, Katie has become a good friend.  Her husband David and son Matthew all joined in to help out at times.  So you will probably have seen Katie.

Earlier in the year to help Katie and us take a bit more time off, we met another fabulous Taringa local Leith.  Leith lives a couple of blocks away and is at Uni doing her 4th year in Journalism.  Leith has the biggest, friendliest smile and was keen to join our little team to help out a few cleaning shifts a week.  Perfect for Leith and perfect for us!  So you will probably have seen Leith.

Then, a few months ago whilst talking to our nephew Hamish, we mentioned that we wanted to go on a holiday and would he be interested in filling in the gaps between Katie and Leith?  Hamish was keen, as he is also at Uni in his first year of Architecture and lives just over the hill a few blocks away at Indooroopilly!  Hamish now helps on weekends, plus looks after other odd maintanence jobs for us.  So you will probably have seen Hamish.

So after 19 years, Geoff can now kick back a bit and let our 'T' Team look after his baby more often.  'T' for Team Terrific!  And as these last few months have shown, our Team Terrific really has got to love and understand our Laundromat!  When we are there, we get so many compliments on 'those lovely young people cleaning your Laundromat'  Fresh faces, big smiles and a great attitude, one regular customer told us!  And now it feels like a family.

Laundry Day can be easy and more enjoyable than you think!

Simply we are just that!  Easy and enjoyable.  We are not a big Laundromat ....we are just a little local business established back in 1996.  To tell our story.  Our little Laundromat was started by Geoff's brother Peter at the suggestion of his Dad Max.  Max was a well known local washing machine repairman.  The boys grew up just a few blocks away in Gladstone Street, Indooroopilly.  Geoff even has memories of coming down to this little heritage Centre with his Mum to the butchers when he was little.  Our Centre has been around since the 1930's.  And we love it!

We have 6 *express* Dexter Front load washers, 3 Top Loaders for single basket washes and 9 BIG fabulous, *express* Dexter dryers (that hold up to 3 baskets of wet laundry)  We have a big stainless steel folding table.  Lots of modern, modular chairs....very comfy for the hour you have to sit while your Laundry is on!  We even have a modern modular bench seat outside for those beautiful summer days.  A ceiling fan, television, magazines, community noticeboard and FREE WiFi!!  Just to make it all 'a little bit easier' we also have a change machine inside that will dispense $1 coins from notes.  Simple!

Our *express* Dexter Front loaders take 20 -23 minutes, spin faster than any other Dexter model to extract more moisture from your clothes.  Saving you time and money in the Dryers.  They are gentle on your laundry, reliable and affordable.  We even provide Australian owned and made ECO Laundry liquid, fabric softener and pre-wash stain remover by 'Earth Choice'

We want people to find the laundromat the way we would like to find a Laundromat if we needed to use one.  And we use ours for our own laundry!  So.....we clean it twice a day, at least!  On busy days we clean it 3 or 4 times.  Our machines are maintained to be clean, fresh and reliable.  Dexter is 'Best of the Best' in the Industry!  

Find us in Taringa on Hillsdon Road, we have easy parking right outside the door.  Open every day of the year.  And to make life even more convenient.....Abode Cafe is located in the Centre (Closed on Tuesdays)  The Corner store for snacks, icecreams, drinks and magazines.  And Bus Stop right on the corner for #415 and #414

So it's just us, Geoff and Karen....only one little Laundromat tucked away in these quiet, green streets of Taringa.  When you need to do your laundry - then we want to exceed your expectations on how easy and nice laundry day can be!

• Change Machine, if you need $1 coins for the machines, don't worry our machine will accept $5, $10, $20 notes and give you coins.

• Easy carparking right outside!! You can park on the street outside and on Sundays you can even park out the back, behind the laundromat.
• Bus Stop outside #414 Uni bus and #415 city bus on either side of the road from us.
• Toilet on site for customers use.
• Corner Store and Cafe in Centre.  Want a snack or a decent coffee...just walk up to the next shops and you will find all you need.  Abode Cafe is located in the lovely garden area behind the Corner store.  With all food made on site.
• Our machines are all modern, cleaned at least twice a day and no older than 3 years.  We sanitise and clean them daily and make sure that they are ready to go.

Our Laundromat is cleaned twice a day.

Every day at least twice a day we clean our Laundromat at Taringa.  Our aim is to have the cleanest little laundry in Brisbane.  We love our customers to come in and find it clean, sparkly and ready to use.  Mornings and afternoons, every day of the week, we pop in and sweep, dust, wipe, polish and shine.  On busy, rainy days, we come more often just to make sure it's all spotless.  Yep, we LOVE our Laundry!

It also gives us a chance to chat to you, our customers.  We get great tips, compliments and sometimes we find out about the odd hiccup.  So cleaning our Laundromat has many pluses.   Including a perfectly good excuse to pop around the corner and grab a coffee and a treat from Abode Cafe!  lol
